Our Art Club collaborated after school to give our Viking mascot a much-needed makeover. The students dedicated considerable effort to ensure he stands out and captures attention. We hope everyone will enjoy the results. SKOL Vikings!

The students in Mr. Bitzer's Academy of Engineering Introduction to Engineering Design class were tasked with making a machine from limited materials that would fling a ping pong ball 15 feet. The machine had to be able to launch the ping pong ball by pulling a pin or pressing a release button. They then had to record the distance the ball traveled and organize the data to statistically analyze the accuracy of the design.

Students in Ms. Miller’s Academy of Business Management leadership classes participated in the Chick-fil-A Leader Academy Kick-Off Event. Thank you to local Chick-fil-A operator Glenn Rosson and marketing director Lesa Loftis for sponsoring this program and for bringing our students lunch and treats. 🐄🐔

All MCPSS seniors are asked to participate in the Alabama Direct Admission Initiative. This program is designed to afford high school seniors in Alabama an opportunity to receive guaranteed college admission offers to participating institutions by completing their student profile and submitting their transcript (Central Office will submit for them), eliminating the need for traditional applications, essays and fees. There are no application fees and no rejections; students will only receive a letter of acceptance. This is a stress-free process that aims to remove barriers to higher education, giving students the confidence to know that they are capable and can attend college. If seniors complete their profile by September 23, they will receive acceptance letters beginning October 6.
It is similar to the Common App which your student may be familiar with and is a one stop place that they can receive offers to colleges & scholarships simply by creating a profile.
The link for their student profile is below:
https://discover.concourseglobal.net/student/start?source=alabamapossible
**They will need to use their PERSONAL email in creating their account.
*Transcripts will be uploaded every few days by Central Office. They DO NOT need to upload a transcript OR input courses and grades one by one.
*Students with an ACT Score of 18 or above SHOULD list their score. They can self-report it and if they are unsure of their scores can access that by logging in to their ACT account or can come to guidance.

It is the official start of our Book Club in Ms. Perkin's 10th grade English class! It’s called Book for Book. Our goal is simple but powerful- we want to promote and encourage more recreational reading. In a world filled with screens, schedules, and stress, we want to create a space where people can fall in love with books again- reading not because we HAVE to, but because we WANT to.
Thank you Ms. Pearce and Ms. Gibbs for helping us find books to read for this month! Skol Vikings!
